With the Grammys right around the corner, Rap-A-Lot Records founder J. Prince called on artists such as Drake, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West to come together and boycott the upcoming award show. He also suggested that they put on their own concert at the same time as the Grammys. Now Quavo is sharing his thoughts about the matter.

TMZ caught up with Quavo at the airport, and when asked if the Grammys still mattered he simply said, “Nah.” He proceeded to say that he would be down to be a part of the concert that J. Prince suggested. “We need to make our own awards,” said Quavo. “Awards that appreciate the real s**t that’s going on in the streets.” He touched on the culture and new artists needing to be appreciated as well.

Quavo then went on to speak about how the Migos were not able to be a part of XXL’s annual Freshman Class when they were new artists because they’re a group. “All these stimulations on our artistry is lame because we’re the creators.”

He was also asked who should decide on the Grammys if they want to get it right, and he suggested new and younger members who are connected to the culture. “You got to be in the field to know what’s real,” he said.

As previously reported, J. Prince took to social media earlier this week to call on Drake, Nicki Minaj and Kanye West to boycott the Grammys after it was confirmed that Kanye was barred from performing at this year’s away show due to his actions on social media.

J. Prince said, “I’ve been watching the Grammys control and dictate our culture to their benefit up close and personal for the past 30 years, and all the artists, managers, and executives would do is complain but never have the nuts to come together to do anything about it.”
