Diddy is receiving a major history lesson after the 53-year-old publicly credited Drink Champs hosts N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN for pioneering Hip-Hop podcasting.

According to VIBE, the music mogul gave the duo their flowers during a commemoration party on Sunday. The party was intended to celebrate the hosts’ recent win for Best Hip-Hop Platform at the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards. And it was thrown by Diddy himself.

In a clip shared on Instagram, Diddy is heard telling guests and fellow podcasters to thank N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN for their contributions.

They really created a whole industry for a lot of people that come from where we’ve come from to get seven-figure deals. And it would not be that way if it wasn’t for these two guys. So congratulations, and when y’all see them, say thank you. Be gracious.

Diddy Gets Schooled

Although Diddy’s remarks were met by applause at the event, not many were pleased. According to VIBE, fellow podcasters, Brian “B. Dot” Miller and Kazeem Famuyide were quick to let Diddy know where he went wrong.

“Juan Ep, RIP Combat Jack,” B. Dot Miller commented, referring to the Juan Epstein podcast hosted by Cipha Sounds and Peter Rosenberg. As well as the iconic Combat Jack Show, hosted by the late Reggie “Combat Jack” Ossé.

Famuyide took Miller’s comment a step further.

Love for NORE and EFN, but never count out the contributions or Combat Jack, Juan Ep, and [Taxstone].

As many would recall, Taxstone released his podcast, Tax Season, in 2015 on Combat Jack’s Loud Speakers network.

More Hip-Hop Podcasters Missing From The Conversation

According to VIBE, one internet user couldn’t help but mention another podcaster whom Diddy had forgotten.

I’m sorry, but N.O.R.E ain’t paved the way for SH*T. Joe Budden is the one who made podcasts popular. S/O to Combat Jack (RIP), he set it off, but it was JOE BUDDEN in this recent era that made damn near everyone wanna pod. Foh Diddy.

According to HotNewHipHop, another internet user seemed to agree.

Nahh. You can’t rewrite history like this. Combat Jack, Taxstone, and Joe Budden were on the podcast wave in Hip-Hop before Drink Champs even recorded an episode. Podcasts were popular by 2016 and that’s when Drink Champs came out.

Roommates, what are your thoughts on Diddy’s comments?
