With 2022 coming to a wrap, excited anticipation over whatā€™s to come in 2023 is starting to take over. However, before we dive into the new year, we have to look back and acknowledge some of the women in the rap game who made noteworthy moves in 2022.

Here are ten songs by female rappers, in no particular order, that debuted this past year and deserve a shoutout.

ā€˜We Not Humping (Remix)ā€™ by Monaleo

First up, we have Monaleoā€™s remix of ā€œWe Not Humping,ā€ which initially debuted back in 2021. She partnered up with Flo Milli for the revamped bop, and these rappers definitely ATE on the track.

If youā€™re looking for an energy-filled song that humorously throws shade over a poppinā€™ beat, Monaleo delivers the perfect solution.

ā€˜Pretty Girlsā€™ by Flo Milli

Speaking of Flo Milli, her You Still Here, Ho? album spawned numerous bops, including ā€œConceited,ā€ ā€œBig Steppa,ā€ and ā€œPBC.ā€ However, weā€™re taking a moment to specifically give ā€œPretty Girlsā€ a shoutout, as this fun track is great for hyping yourself up to live your best life!

After all, ā€œGirls just wanna have fun!ā€

ā€˜F.N.F. (Letā€™s Go)ā€™ by GloRilla

GloRilla had a phenomenal year by churning out hit after hit. Before beloved tracks like ā€œBlessedā€ and ā€œTomorrow 2,ā€ though, it all began with her collab with Hitmaka: ā€œF.N.F. (Letā€™s Go).ā€

The Memphis-bred rapper came through with the ā€œsong of the summer,ā€ and sheā€™s only continued to rise from there. In fact, the hit ultimately became Spotifyā€™s top viral song.

ā€˜Mind Yo Businessā€™ by Lakeyah

Thanks to TikTok and Instagram reels, plenty of people were exposed to ā€œMind Yo Business.ā€ This Lakeyah track  graced a number of videos on social media, and for good reason, too!

After all, everyone needs to belt out a good ā€œFirst off, b***h mind yo business!ā€ every now and then.

ā€˜Big Energyā€™ by Latto

Latto unveiled a fun track that played off of ā€œFantasyā€ by Mariah Carey this year, and weā€™d be remiss if we didnā€™t acknowledge this banger!

A remix of ā€œBig Energyā€ featuring Mariah herself, as well as DJ Khaled, added to the songā€™s widespread success. Additionally, it won ā€œSong of the Yearā€ at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards.

ā€˜Top Notchā€™ by City Girls

Yung Miami and JT teamed up with Fivio Foreign for this track, and itā€™s definitely a solid single to help hold fans over for the next City Girls project.

We also have to give it to JT, as her verse in ā€œTop Notchā€ went particularly hard!

ā€˜Blick Blick!ā€™ by Coi Leray

On the heels of 2021 hits like ā€œNo More Partiesā€ and ā€œBIG PURR (Prrdd),ā€ Coi Leray partnered with Nicki Minaj to pen another bop: ā€œBlick Blick!ā€

However, Nicki ultimately revealed that this project almost didnā€™t occur due to drama between her and Coiā€™s father, Benzino. Thankfully, though, the pair pulled through and brought the track to life.

ā€˜Munchā€™ by Ice Spice

Ice Spice, humorously dubbed the ā€œmodern day Princess Dianaā€ by some stans, is another artist who reached widespread success in 2022 with ā€œMunch.ā€ Additionally, she debuted other well-received hits like ā€œBikini Bottomā€ and ā€œName of Loveā€ this year, too.

We should also add that Ice Spice was recently named the top star on TikTokā€™s list of the yearā€™s ā€œEmerging Artists.ā€ So, itā€™s safe to say that audiences are feelinā€™ Ice Spice!

ā€˜Super Freaky Girlā€™ by Nicki Minaj

While the Grammys may not classify ā€œSuper Freaky Girlā€ as a rap track, we have to respectfully disagree and give Nicki her flowers.

The songā€”which plays off of ā€œSuper Freakā€ by Rick Jamesā€”was widely used on social media, and a mashup between ā€œSuper Freaky Girlā€ and ā€œLuxuriousā€ by Gwen Stefani was particularly popular. Notably, the track was Nicki Minajā€™s first solo hit to premiere at the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

ā€˜Plan Bā€™ by Megan Thee Stallion

Finally, we have ā€œPlan Bā€ by Megan Thee Stallion, which was included on her Traumazine album after initially being released as a single.

The H-Town Hottie went IN on the track, and one particular verse that referenced Ice-T captivated fans.

What are your thoughts on these 2022 bops, and what are some other poppinā€™ female rap tracks that youā€™d add to the list?
