Lil Durk stepped into mid-January by previewing new music. But the song snippet is inspiring debates about Durk dissing Gunna across social media platforms. While Durk doesn’t name-drop the Atlanta artist, his reference to their hit song What Happened To Virgil sparks conversation.

In the snippet previewed this past weekend, Durk raps:

“Pray for the girls who die from BBls/ What happened to Virgil/ He probably gon’ tell/ I let him go because Timo ain’t selling/ Thank 7 and Booka, I’m bragging on Melvin/When lol boo and them mad, it ain’t nothing you can tell them/I can tell you what I did for the streets/ You got paperwork, did it and reached/ I got on Clubhouse and got in the beef…”

Durk and Gunna collaborated on the track in 2022, releasing the video on April 11, 2022. It was partly a tribute to the late Virgil Abloh, who passed in November 2021 from a rare heart cancer. What Happened To Virgil‘s video also began collecting on its 52 million views just one month before Gunna surrendered to Atlanta police on R.I.C.O charges.

Lil Durk’s Alleged Diss Comes A Month After Gunna’s Alford Plea

After being denied bail times, Gunna entered an Alford plea in December for his racketeering and gang charges. His plea resulted in a five-year sentence, then reduced to one year, and commuted to 500 hours of community service. Gunna was released from Fulton County Jail on December 14.

At the time, footage from WSB-TV Channel 2 showed Gunna agreeing to YSL-related questions in court. He agreed that “YSL is a music label and a gang” and that he has knowledge of crimes that furthered the gang.

When it came to Young Thug, who remains in jail on R.I.C.O. charges, Gunna agreed that he and Thugger were present when police pulled them over and recovered “hydrocodone, methenamine, and a firearm.” He also agreed the recovered items did not belong to him.

Nonetheless, after his release, Gunna explained his Alford plea deal and assured fans he would not testify in Young Thug’s trial, which began at the top of January.

Gunna said:

“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

About a week ago, Gunna seemingly hinted at ‘people switching to a side’ in his first Instagram post since his release from jail.

He captioned a photo of him sitting in a living room:

N****s acting like they switching to a side, But it’s only one side. #YsltheLabel #FreeThug&Yak GUNNA BACC!!!!!”

Fans Monitor Durk, Gunna And Lil Baby’s Social Media Activity

But Durk’s song isn’t the only thing that has the internet streets concluding. Durk’s social media activity has also been on close watch. He also wiped his Instagram account of any content except for a photo of Young Thug posted on December 22 and the ‘FREE JEFFERY’ in his bio.

“Drop a [green heart] if y’all want Thugg home nad not being blamed or left to the wolves #FREEJEFF”

At the time, Durk also added an ‘album mode’ hashtag, seemingly indicating he was working on new music. However, it’s unclear if the new song snippet will be on said album. Durk has not reacted to allegations that he’s dissing Gunna. They both still follow each other on Instagram.

Meanwhile, fans are also clocking Lil Baby’s social media activity. Lil Baby doesn’t appear to be following Gunna on Instagram, but Gunna follows him.
