LISTEN: Quavo Seemingly Addresses Future Of The Migos On New Song ‘Greatness’
Quavo has spoken on the future of the Migos. Following the death of Takeoff, nearly three months ago, fans have wondered whether remaining members Quavo and Offset will come together to continue their hit-making rap group.
But, according to Quavo’s new release Greatness, the Migos’ days are treasured but gone. Quavo raps about the group’s legacy and game-changing sound in the three-minute track. Less than a minute into the song, he addresses the online talks about the group’s future.
“Came in, swept the game like a storm with the muthafucking flow, n***a Take did that/ So don’t ask about the group, he gone, we gone, young n***a it can’t come back, damn!”
The song’s accompanying video, which earned over 290,000 views in 10 hours, shows snapshots of Quavo watching throwback footage featuring Takeoff, playing basketball, smoking, and attending events.
Another thing the new song makes clear is that the uncle is still in mourning over the sudden loss of his nephew. He opens the song with wishes of being able to see Take.
“My chain, my watch, my wrist, my motherf**king house, my rise-and-grind, I’ll give away all this sh*t just to see my dawg just one more time,” Quavo raps. “Look up at the lights one time, here to stay, rock the mic one time. Roll one, get right one time.”
As previously reported, Takeoff was shot and killed on Nov. 1 after an altercation broke out near a Houston bowling alley. The 28-year-old died from gunshot wounds to his head and torso. Quavo was present during the shooting, and heartbreaking video footage showed him yelling Take’s name in desperation near the bloodied body.
One month later, police arrested a Houston DJ named Patrick Clark on a murder charge. Patrick is scheduled for a court appearance in March but posted a million-dollar bond in early January. His release reportedly included house arrest with GPS monitoring and alcohol, drugs, and firearm bans.

Quavo Highlights Migos’ Success In New Song ‘Greatness’
Though Quavo seemingly confirmed the end of Migos, the rapper praised their accomplishments throughout the track.
About one minute and twenty seconds in, he raps:
“Never forget that the Migos amazin’/ Look at the ice and the knots in my pants, you that them young n****s made it/ Get your mind right lil’ n***a, you never know you could be fmaous/ I got this sh*t out the mud and caught a lil’ buzz, then QC changed it.”
During the outro, he said:
“You made the greatest time with your life/ Right now it’s greatness/ You pick the perfect time in the world, it’s right now/ that time is greatest/ I don’t care how long it take, I don’t care what storm you been through/ it’s greatness/ This how legends was born, greatness/ I couldn’t do it without the greatest group in the world/ Hmm, greatness/ I couldn’t do it without the greatest nephew in the world.”
This is the second song Quavo has released in tribute to Takeoff. Also released on a Wednesday (Jan. 5), the track ‘Without You’ highlighted his grief following Take’s death. Over four minutes, Quavo rapped about crying countless times, their rise to stardom, and seeing his nephew again.
“I wish I had a time machine // Just so you can take a ride with me // I miss just how you smile at me // Unc and Phew until infinity // I wish I had a time machine // So you can take a ride with me // Wrap my arms around and hold you tight, Phew // So you can never say goodbye to me.”
Quavo performed Without You alongside the Maverick City Music choir at the 65th Grammy Awards ceremony. Following the performance, TMZ reported that the remaining Migos members, Quavo and Offset, got into a physical altercation over the tribute moment before Quavo took the stage.
Offset denied the report on Twitter, saying, “what tf look like fighting my brother y’all n****s is crazy.”
Then, Entertainment Tonight released a backstage iPhone video of Offset’s wife and rapper Cardi B yelling backstage. However, the clip only features audio of her voice, no physical representation of the alleged altercation.
“Both of y’all wrong. This is not right. No, b***h shut the f**k up cuz you shouldn’t have been talking,” Cardi said.
She later denied that she was “settling” anything except for her “outfit” in an interview with ET.
In a separate incident earlier this month, Offset called out J. Prince in an online post after J. Prince accused Set of not being there when Takeoff was alive.
